Lake Enchanto the location of a 1930 fairyland resort in the Malibu hills where a Kim West installation and the Heidi Duckler Dance theatre perform a one-time throwback performance to that distant time.
As the sun dips below the trees at Peter Strauss Ranch, shadows elongate. When vintage bathing suit-clad dancers propel through the space, for a moment it ceases to be 2017. Then the ritual begins, and into the “lake” the dancers go, dragging with them their memories, and, literally, setting them ablaze.
Lake Enchanto was made in collaboration with Heidi Duckler Dance and the artist Kim West. We created this film to document the one-time performance. It won an Official Selection of the Los Angeles Dance Shorts Film Festival and Divulge Dancers Film Festival.
