Modi | Museum Rebrand

Modi (Museum of Discovery + Imagination) is a bright, playful, contemporary solution to San Diego’s New Children’s Museum’s request for a fun and fresh brand identity that will appeal to children of all ages as well as their parents. The concept behind the museum’s rebrand was “catalyzing learning through exploration and play.” Modi’s goal is to stimulate curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking through contemporary art for kids. The shape-based logo mark symbolizes the museum’s entity: a space for imagination and exploration. Simple and scalable, the mark also has no sharp edges — at modi children are encouraged to think organically. Interacting organic shapes inspired by the different forms found in the museum’s exhibits also represent modi’s impact in shaping the minds of children. Steering away from the typical primary colors (or entire rainbow) often used for children’s brands, modi’s bright and playful colors paired with white space create a more modern, sophisticated feel that is appealing to older kids and parents as well.
