Over the Moon

This was a two month long process with The Marías and claymation artist Bonadona. Maria was heavily inspired by The Little Prince and George Méliès "A Trip to the Moon" but also wanted to incorporate a dreamy performance that accompanied the claymation. I drew up a storyboard with Bona that had specific shot timings that divided up IRL performance and the claymation because the claymation process had to start before the actual shooting in order for us to meet our deadline. The overall shoot took less than 12 hours because of conflicting schedules with the bandmates but because everything was planned ahead of time, we were able to move forward and shoot everything we needed. I then took a month to assemble the whole video together and would often times ask Bona to break down animation clips into layers so I could transition into each scene by their individual elements. It premiered on Noisey and Youtube on Nov. 2nd 2018.
