The Real Junk Food Project is a non-profit social enterprise that saves food from being wasted, making it available to the people. Running as a network of independent but linked organisations, the network has encountered problems in recent times, attracting negativity and bad press. This has harmed supply lines, funding and growth – along with its reputation as a force for good. A clean break from the network was required, to enable the Sheffield project to fulfil its potential, building a reputable brand that can continue to grow and become a successful exponent in the fight against food waste.
