Red Scarf Girl
A series of paper-cut illustrations for Amplify ELA's Red Scarf Girl unit. In this unit the students read Ji Li's memoir Red Scarf Girl about her experience growing up in Mao's Communist Shanghai. I took inspiration from old Chinese propaganda posters and traditional shadow puppet techniques to create this collection of back lit photo illustrations.
