Okay
The New York African Film Festival

The New York African Film Festival was celebrating a special year, and envisioned a bold tribute to the multiple stories told through the lenses of filmmakers not only all over Africa, but through the Panafrican cultural influence all over the world. It was also a special year of commemoration, as this year marked the fiftieth anniversary of FESPACO, an organization established in 1969 that has been a forerunner in Panafrican film and media. This year’s festival gave recognition to education, cultural and political awareness, as well as a celebration of diversity represented in the festival over the last twenty-six years. So, the ask needed to conceptually embody these pillars. I worked closely with the founders to develop a visual identity that spanned across an out of home subway campaign as well as printed materials such as the official film program.
