Conexpo is a trade show for the construction industry held every three years in Las Vegas. Many major equipment manufacturers, like CAT, JCB, Volvo and JLG exhibit their equipment in an outdoor area dominated by branded pavilions and heavy machinery.
JLG came to our design team with a prescriptive list of needs, including a number of large construction machines, virtual reality demos, enclosed theaters for immersive video and live demonstrations. Above all was the need for an architecturally impressive central pavilion structure, unique but designed within the constraints of standardized modular building systems. Thus the challenge was to not only design a programmed exhibit space, but the hall itself as well.
Our proposal includes two design directions with dierent themes and
priorities. In addition to traditional renderings, I produced virtual
walkthroughs for the agency client which were presented as videos as
well as web-based interactive viewers. Try them online at bit.ly/smcweb1, bit.ly/smcweb2 amd bit.ly/smcweb3
