Men's Classification Fixture Package
My favorite project at Macy's was designing a set of new retail fixtures for the Young Men's Classification department. The goal was not only to make shopping easier by having designated "shops" for Denim, Jackets, and Tops, but to also develop fixtures that were unique and fun in the eyes of the millennial shopper. It was also important, of course, to make sure that the fixtures met the needs of the merchants and satisfied store standards.
Our team had originally given this assignment to three vendors, but after their designs were nixed by the Vice President, I decided to take on the challenge myself.
After a few initial sketches and 3D drawings of the structures in SketchUp, my coworker and I started to select materials for our fixtures based on our previous trend research. My main task was creating the fixtures in SketchUp, rendering presentation-ready images in Adobe Dimension, creating documents with notes and revisions for the engineers, and presenting the fixture package concept to our Art Director and VPs at all stages.
After several rounds of tweaks here and there, Macy's invested in our designs! The new fixture package is due to set in stores nationwide in October 2019.
