House of Huckleberry
When Jillian Snell approached me about helping brand and layout her new magazine that focused on growing food and humans, I was ecstatic to flex my editorial layout muscles. I was brought on as Design Director and Illustrator for the first four issues to help her and her business partner, Erica Martin, set the branding guidelines and maintain brand consistency throughout all materials, as well as to create the layout and any accompanying illustrations for each issue of Huckleberry Magazine in their first year. Working with Jill and Erica was a true collaboration. They wanted every aspect of the magazine, especially page design, to radiate warmth and inclusivity—a place that readers could come, relax and absorb Huckleberry's message without the stress or pressure that typically accompanies parenting magazines.
Illustration work created for the magazine was designed with versatility in mind, knowing that these pieces would need to work in an editorial setting, as well as on posters, cards, and other merchandise down the line, including their successful Kickstarter campaign in November 2018.
