The Voter Suppression Trail

The New York Times' first Op-Ed game, all about the pain of waiting in line to vote. Nominated for an Emmy.

The New York Times approached us about making an Op-Ed game for the 2016 election. We decided to take on the often-confusing topic of voter suppression through a parody of a classic game: The Oregon Trail. Players get to choose where they live and then experience the pain of waiting in line, trying to balance work and family obligations, and avoiding intimidating “observers.”

Our game was nominated for an Emmy Award in Outstanding New Approaches: Arts, Lifestyle, and Culture.
