This design was inspired by the story of John Riley, an Irish immigrant who settled in Kentucky in 1890. After Prohibition was ratified in January of 1920, he was forced to maintained his craft by continuing to work in secret. The design borrows from the rich visual language of the era with his story being expressed through a cameo created by the negative space.
