JAM BAMBOO DIGITAL GUITAR
The design should glorify the material since highlighting the sustainability and hardness of the laminated bamboo was the main motivation of the project. It should be unique but convey quality and reliability to a user that values classic guitars and was already trying a new material.
Jam’s neck is one-piece going from the beginning of the headstock until the end of the body and it’s darker than the rest of the body, demonstrating finishing range. In addition to the traditional amplifier jack, Jam also offers both USB and a headphone jack, instigating user to experiment with digital media. The high-quality electrical components are all chrome-finished, reflecting the laminated bamboo itself and the environment around it.
The guitar won the silver award in the IDSA IDEA BRASIL 2009, in the ecodesign category, and was showcased in many design exhibitions all around Brazil and in various countries. It was also mentioned in several publications, the highlight among them being Taschen’s “Product Design In The Sustainable Era” book, in 2010.
