Google CSFirst

Google's Computer Science First program is geared towards teachers and students from under-resourced communities to have the framework and tools to teach and learn computer science, for free. Our small team was tasked with creating a brand system for CSFirst to live alongside the overarching brand of Code with Google, the parent effort under which many educational programs live. CSFirst branding has to speak to students, teachers, and work alongside Scratch, MIT's block coding program. Through the use of motion and illustration we were able to create something playful, flexible, and distinguishable. I helped create a motion system that subtly nodded to Scratch's visual cues, such as snapping of blocks, that fluidly translated to our visual direction. I was involved from concept to delivery, having a hand in shaping the overall direction and as a voice in the room who is a part of the communities we were trying to understand and speak to.
