Retreat Posters

An ongoing poster series for retreats at Zen Mountain Monastery and the Zen Center of New York City. Reflective of the multi-layered, omnipresent digital overlay most of us swim through daily, I was interested in exploring the superimposition, integration, and merging of text and image. How do these two relate? How do we ‘read’ them differently? How do we relate to what appears to be shown, and what is covered up? How do we understand the surfaces of symbols and their underlying truths? Where is the ‘true?’ To me, not only are these relevant questions in art and design, but they also apply wonderfully to Zen training as well.
