NIKE: The Chris Mosier Project

The inspiring and heart-rending story of Chris Mosier: All-American male Duathlete, 6-time member of Team USA, and assigned female at birth. He’s battled his whole life: with friends, family, teammates, teachers, and the US Government. Now, he stands up for the transgender community, and continues, everyday, to push forward his mission of being the person he needed when he was younger. With a strong passion for deep and effective narrative, I approached Nike directly with an idea for a branded-content documentary featuring Chris Mosier, one of the first transgender Olympians, and Nike athletes. I researched the brand's history of LGBTQ support and it's recent Colin Kaepernick "Just Do It" campaign to leverage the documentary as well as its social cut-downs. I designed and developed the pitch deck and presented and sold in the creative to Nike account. Once I won the project, I then worked in partnership with Nike's marketing and comms teams and their LGBTQ coalition and partners to identify, and develop content story ideas, and conduct the production of social-first and documentary-style videos. I partnered with a trusted vendor, a production company known for commercial content and high-concept branded documentaries, to support the production itself. I directed / creative directed and executive produced the shoot, the whole time acting as liaison between brand, production and talent's agency reps. I oversaw the post-production process and even did the first story pass edit myself in Adobe Premiere Pro. I am currently overseeing the post-production workflow and communication with assistant editors, sound designers, composers, as well as colorists and motion graphics artists. I will be working directly with Nike marketing/comms teams, organizational partners, individual donors, and talent, to create a coordinated strategic social media campaign to launch.
