Color creates a difference in the way we perceive and describe the world. Perceiving color allows humans, and many other animals to discriminate surroundings on the basis of the electromagnetic frequencies of light that they reflect in the eye. Color perception varies from one individual to the other. No two persons see the same amount of red, blue, or green. Color, in all its variance, is used to communicate emotion, ideas, and even bias. A distorted perception of color and one another impacts the value of life’s interaction.
The individuals featured in project COLOUR© are artists representing color with their clothing and appearance. By using photography, design, styling, direction, music, and other art forms to communicate, they willfully deposit a portion of themselves into their community. COLOUR© is a human demonstration of how color mixes and combines theoretically. The relationship between each color value represents the unseen connection we have to one another. Several colors could not be present without the other and no one is of greater importance.
