“Spec” aims to leverage the power of reminiscing with a speculative system that will mimic the spontaneous and often times delightful nature of a surfacing memory. Spec is targeted for millennials. Individuals in their 20-30s do the most reminiscing because they are in the greatest transitional periods of their lives. I built a speculative and future-thinking system leading users to build perspective, empathy, and connections with others, ultimately culminating to an increased awareness of how they are involved in the human condition. I was inspired by how nostalgia is proven to be a universal feeling, which is often time triggered by one of our senses. I wanted to think outside of the “standards” in UX design about how we can use CUI, exploration, and spontaneity in experience design. I used illustrator, XD, Indesign, Photoshop, After Effects to create Spec, which was my senior capstone research project.
