The New York Rangers wanted to connect with their fans in a more meaningful and engaging way. Rangerstown is a state of mind that connects the fans, players, and New York community together to cheer on one of New York’s winningest teams.
The solve was using the idea of displaying the fan’s stories through visual representation. Thus, the concept of Rangerstown Stories was developed by me and used for the 2017-18 season.
Season tickets, 10 Home Games in October, a mural outside of Madison Square Garden, out of home signage, print collateral, and social designs were developed for this campaign.
A mural was designed that scaled the right side of 2 Penn Plaza and stayed up for the entire season.
Season tickets had a URL that linked to an animated GIF (animation 1) of each story. Social engagement doubled showing an increase of 80% on Instagram and Facebook due to posts now having animations all done by me in After Effects. Younger audiences started engaging more with the team’s social media as a result of the pieces.
