The Neurodiverse movement seeks to change societal perceptions of certain neurological conditions, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by arguing that these conditions aren’t disabilities or disorders, but just normal, natural variations in the human genome…differences that should be recognized and respected as equal to gender or ethnicity.
Unfortunately, despite some traction in the neurodiversity movement, legal provisions and shifts in cultural perception over the past 10–15 years, people with ASD still face many difficulties in finding and retaining employment — often employed at a rate ~50% less than Americans without developmental disabilities.
