Identity and Interior Design for Chobani Café
Since 2012, located in a landmarked corner building in Soho, Chobani Café has been a busy neighborhood spot for tourists and regulars alike. Tasked with a redesign of the interior spaces, outdoor signage, and branding for packaging, printed and digital menues, the new space had to solve for many different customer types: regulars on weekends or during their lunch breaks, professionals for working, and tourists for (mostly) one-time-visits. Influenced by the comfortable seating arrangements in Majilis—rooms in arabic and islamic culture dedicated to entertaining guests—the prime window location offers low lounge-like seating, while the inner part of the Café features a long dining table for communal gatherings and working. High quality, modern furniture in the brand’s colors makes the space welcoming and calming. The digital screens allow for economical updates to the menu, while the printed version offers evergreens and the longer-lasting seasonal menu. The interior window allows a peek into the kitchen and it features shelving with ceramics and glassware of local artists, highlighting Chobani’s dedication to artistry and craftsmanship.
