PGA Tour - Windows Phone App

The PGA Tour tasked our team with creating their official app for the Windows Phone 'Metro' interface with a 3-month deadline. This was a particularly exciting project, as I was able to learn the ins-and-outs of their tournaments, the game, players and people's love for the sport. Using data leveraged from the brand's website, Creative Director, Kenneth Kawamoto and I worked on the wireframe for the interface to ensure a seamless experience. Together, we worked out the architecture and flow of each screen. We then created our panoramic design, providing up-to-the-minute scores, standings and media, related to each player and tournament throughout the year. As the scenery surrounding any golf tournament adds to the beautification of the game itself, we chose to incorporate header imagery of the courses where each game was played. This contributed to the in-app atmospheric experience and was revealed in a horizontal parallax style as users clicked through the app. Additionally, we included a virtual reality element– allowing users to see how each hole way played– putting them in the action. As always with digital projects, I was hands-on with directing a small team of developers through our vision for interactive elements and overall experience. As our team was small, I was hands-on for QA testing. The app was well received by golf lovers who were early adopters of the WP interface, and received a 4.6 out of 5 rating in the Microsoft App Store.
