DIRECTV had a business problem. They had too many DVR’s in a warehouse, and they needed to sell them. Fast. This concept leveraged the idea that even if someone had a single DVR, owning two would give them something to really be proud of. So we created piece which played off the annoying “My Kid is an Honor Student” bumper sticker. The first piece mailed and created tons of buzz, getting mentioned on sites like the AVforums and other online websites. The other two were created for a campaign, but didn’t mail. They sold through their inventory. We killed our own campaign.
