In Lebanon, prisons are still seen as more of a punishment rather than a chance for rehabilitation. Their gray environments fuel already present frustrations and negativity, leading to more violence and even riots.
We worked side by side with a colour therapist and the prison’s psychologist, then went to Ebbé Prison in Tripoli, Lebanon, and painted its cells with colours that help improve the psychological well-being of inmates.
Each colour, falling into a specific frequency, has unique properties: blue imparts a sense of spirituality and peace. Green creates a sense of friendliness and calm. Yellow conveys inner warmth. We used these colours to transform the lives of inmates for the better.
