At Viacom Music & Entertainment, I worked as part of the product design team. I created web, app, and emerging digital platform design solutions for MTV, Comedy Central, and MTV News. My role as product designer focused on the MTV iOS & Android app, as well as the Search + Discovery features across all Viacom channels. In this position, I was able to collaborate with Viacom’s user research, product development, and engineering teams; and challenge my user interface skills to design and develop beautiful and engaging streaming experiences. Design projects include: Rapid-prototyping for all stakeholders (business, brand, programming, and technology) Defining interaction details for web and app Developing a Viacom pattern library Visual design direction and UX design for a show-focused video app Improving the onboarding experience for first-time visitors and forever fans For the MTV app, after conducting user testing research, a simple re-skin grew into a comprehensive overhaul of home screen behavior. This required new technology that included the network's first-ever personalization recommendation feature. I was responsible for competitive analysis, A/B tests, ideation, prototyping, and multiple rounds of usability testing. Working closely with product design and data scientists, we tested a handful of concepts and landed on an episodic "catch-up" experience. This included recommendation technology as well as multiple playlists of horizontal cards. From the home screen, the user is able to access a mixture of trending content, previously watched clips and episodes, as well as recommended shows and series.
