Boston Accent Branding Identity
Boston Accent is an independent Boston-based literary journal. Written accent marks are used to evoke the phonetic sound of a spoken Boston accent– "Bõśtøn cçent” becomes "Bahztun Axezent” when pronounced out loud. To represent the publication’s diverse contributors, the marks themselves are pulled from a variety of languages. The design system also pays homage to Boston’s rich Revolution-era heritage of independent publishing through the use of transitional-serif typography. Throughout the project, I conceptualized client needs and guided them through visual design decisions, designed brand identity from concept phase to final product and handoff.
