Malaria No More

Every minute a child dies from malaria, but donating just $1 to Malaria No More can help save that child’s life. To raise awareness and donations for Malaria No More, we launched a pro-bono campaign with a simple premise: Malaria Sucks.

Using the icon of an orange lollipop to highlight the childhood that children in Africa miss out on because of malaria, we encouraged people to take a selfie with the hashtag #malariasucks and show the world how they suck, because malaria sucks.

On MalariaSucks.com, donors could upload a selfie with a Malaria Sucks lollipop to our “We Suck Photo Gallery,” then share their selfie and charitable deed on social media, raising both awareness for the cause and garnering more donations.

We also engaged celebrities and social media influencers to lead the charge by sending them lollipops and encouraging them to take selfies with the hashtag #malariasucks, then post them on their respective social media channels. Celebs such as Anthony Bourdain, Hilary Duff, Josh Groban, Mya, James Van Der Beek, Soulja Boy, and many more got in on the action.
