For this project I was the sole illustrator, while working with an art director. The challenge: Depict the current debate over loss of street parking in once-quiet Portland, OR neighborhood due to the construction of several large condo buildings, while keeping with the semi-whimsical mood of the publication. Ever nostalgic for look of my late 1970s/early 80s upbringing, as well as the amazing array of cars -spanning decades- that still function as daily drivers in PDX, I opted for a handsome station wagon suspended by one of the many construction cranes that dotted the PDX horizon.
