Caterpillar was ready to enter the direct-to-customer parts retail market and asked AKQA to completely reimagine their e-commerce platform. After equipping ourselves with real customer research and in-the-field observation, we build this unique shopping tool from the ground up. Not only did the site need to support over 600,000 unique parts, it also needed to support multiple delivery options per cart, seamlessly replace the well-known dealership sales experience and be highly usable in any outdoor condition that any construction site can throw at you. Our incredibly talented team (strategists, content strategists, copywriters, UX designers and visual designers) became a trusted partner to a brave client and together we set a bold new vision for the 93 year old company.
