Capturing Carbon Dioxide
Over the next century, we will need to remove carbon dioxide directly from the air to mitigate rising global temperatures. This project gives an overview on current carbon capture technology and what we can do with the captured molecules. I became interested in the topic after reading “Can Carbon Dioxide Removal Save the World”, by Elizabeth Kolbert, in the New Yorker. Using the “Six Americas” audience segments, defined by Yale Climate Communications, I focused on the alarmed and concerned segments as my primary audience, and limited the scope of the animation to our solutions going forward. I also wanted to address the cautious and disengaged segments, who are not as informed about or interested in the topic as the primary audience, through illustration and plain writing.
