Bay Area Women's Summit
Founded by the late San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, the Bay Area Women’s Summit provides participants with the opportunity to engage in an impactful and action-oriented day to craft new policy solutions, create new networks and explore tangible solutions to improve the quality of life in the region.
The 2016 Summit drew an audience of nearly 1,200 women and men committed to gender equity and justice. For 2018 Summit, I was hired to create a new identity that is both conscious of the moment in time and conscious of speaking to a diverse and unconventional audience. The event is expected to draw 1,500 to Moscone Center West in San Francisco and will recur annually.
More context from the Bay Area Women’s Summit:
"Since the first Bay Area Women’s Summit, our nation has experienced watershed moments for women’s rights and equality. From #metoo to She Persisted to a historic number of women seeking public office, this year’s event will showcase the power of women’s and girls’ leadership in removing historic, institutional and cultural barriers to equity and justice. The Summit is not only a celebration but a collective commitment to spring-board from a series of moments into a sustained movement."
“Many conferences are designed for corporate, government and nonprofit leaders but few are designed to bring diverse constituencies and stakeholders together toward a common goal—a thriving Bay Area region grounded in equity. The Bay Area Women’s Summit will draw leaders from all sectors, as well as stay-at-home parents, single mothers, young women and others for whom a conference or summit is not part of their daily experience. We welcome first-time conference-goers and want to provide an experience that is inviting, inspiring and energizing for all to make individual, organizational and regional commitments to make the Bay Area stronger and more equitable.”
