Parklife Festival 2016 - 2018
Art-direction, branding, artwork, illustration, production and design for one of the biggest weekend events in the UK.
Parklife is a popular weekend festival in Manchester's Heaton Park, ran by The Warehouse Project.
I was tasked with their rebrand in 2015, whilst working at Studio Moross. The festival had been going for 5 years at this stage and was looking for a new look that could appeal to a broad age range of young teens to adults, as well as appearing fun and approachable. It would also need to be adaptable, as the festival requires lot of varied collateral, across print and digital media.
I created and established the direction - a completely new illustrated style for the festival, and sci-fi theme for the year of the relaunch. A whole world of characters and objects to play with.
The branding leads with a hero artwork - a massive poster with many illustrated elements. These elements are then used individually across the branding and collateral, in the form of patterns and decoration, surrounding text and graphics.
To promote the launch of the lineup, an animated promo video was created. I worked with the larger team of Studio Moross and Andy Baker Studio, helping illustrate, direct and design an epic 3 minute animation.
The promotion for the festival runs from January through to June, during this time masses of collateral was required - ads, banners, flyers, templates, wristbands, gifs, tickets, magazines and much more, all created using the illustrated elements and assets across the board.
The branding has been a huge success, with tickets selling out in record time year on year.
