Myself and Callum Stephenson invited twenty leading designers, illustrators and creatives to celebrate their favourite hilarious, weird and wonderful moments of previous World Cups by creating a piece of work to represent that moment.
These pieces have then been printed onto limited edition beer mats and are being ‘exhibited’ in pubs around London right in time for the World Cup.
All of the money raised will be going to a charity we love, Football Beyond Borders. They are currently fundraising for a new multi purpose space in the Angell Town Estate in Brixton where the plan is to turn this space into an office, an FBB learning hub used for non-FBB Schools programmes and a safe haven for young people in London from disadvantaged backgrounds.
They are creating a learning hub that can become a centre for FBB’s transformative learning experiences and a fulcrum for their community social action projects. With this, they can provide an extra 10 weeks of FBB’s football and education provisions to over 150 young people for the 2018/19 academic year. All young people are keen and active learners especially when the conditions are right.
We hope to establish the first football for education hub right at the doorstep of Angell Town football pitch. The location is perfect as it grants us easy access to an all weather pitch meaning FBB are able to deliver our football and education sessions without having to book or travel to other sites. Through its design, the space will support FBB’s project-based approach, encouraging creativity and collaboration, while providing a home for all the exciting projects young people are involved with.
