WeTransfer presents: Mr. Wash

I co-directed this short film on Mr. Wash, an artist from Compton. Due to mandatory minimums he was sentenced to life in prison in 1997. Once inside, he never lost faith that he would one day get out, dedicating himself to fighting for his innocence and teaching himself how to paint. And his paintings are some of the most extraordinary, photorealistic yet also surrealistic works you could ever conceive. As it so happened, 21 years later, one of these works led to Obama setting him free.
