Compass Real Estate - Case Study

Real estate agents use email more than any other tool to manage their business, but email was not designed to be a CRM and information could easily get lost and hard to manage. This case study explains my initial approach to solve this problem. DESIGN PROCESS I begin the design process with the Object Oriented UX (OOUX) approach. OOUX is a design language model organized around objects rather than “actions” and data rather than logic. This approach defines and differentiates objects, structures and prioritizes object elements, helps find the sweet spot of complexity and gives everyone a common understanding. Objects are derived directly from the goals of a system, and goals should be derived from research. After the goals (objects) are defined they need structure, during the element audit step, the core content, metadata and relationships with other objects are defined. A CTA inventory lists the actions believed that the user would want to do with each object. GOALS: Real estate agents can manage people, listings, documents, and events in one place. Agents can easily send, receive and save all emails and communications with their portfolio people. Track outstanding tasks, critical dates, and special events. Organize and create groups of people and properties. WIREFRAMES The OOUX process identifies the needs for each screen, when moving on to the wireframes, placement and hierarchy of each object are the main focus as well as trying to find patterns between each element that can be used through the application.
