Perkons: A VR Rockumentary

Perkons formed in 1981 in Soviet Latvia. Their music was new, influenced by western rock and full of anti-Soviet metaphor. They became the voice of a revolution that led to Latvian independence in 1991. Using a blend of CG, archival photos, and illustration, we recreated a largely undocumented story in full VR. Role: Cinematographer, Production Designer, Art Director

The film debuted at VivaTech in Paris in 2018, and has since toured festivals in Latvia, Belgium, Canada, and the Netherlands, and has been exhibited at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, The Wende Museum of the Cold War in Los Angeles, and was featured on MIT's Open Documentary Lab.
