Virago

As an associate artist working alongside Ludic Rooms, I was involved in designing and building the stage lights and controls for Sonia Sabri’s new touring show, Virago.

This show incorporated projections, hanging elements, and both wired and wireless lighting arrangements that formed an integral part of this new take on Kathak dance.

The hardware was created by Dom at Ludic Rooms, and together we designed, built, and controlled the software and hardware for the show premiere. Notably, the show contains a fixed arrangement of 12 addressable stage lights, and five completely wireless addressable lights that can be freely moved. We created a full software controller interface especially for this touring show, allowing us to design and choreograph the lighting in close collaboration with the dancer.
