RealSelf brings insights and support from real people, and answers from highly trained doctors together to create a high-quality resource for their users. For a community member, be it a doctor or a user, content is heavily in the form of text, pictures, and video. The challenge is to make the generation of content, particularly image and video, a better experience. Through quantitative research and studying usage patterns, I identified pain points that I explored further. After a thorough exploration and brainstorming, I created a user flow to address the issue from a design perspective, backed by feedback and inputs from the design team and the user research team. I was able to design a mobile experience that allows users to capture, modify, and review media content they submit along with their updates and reviews while on the RealSelf platform.
