Website design for American Schools of Oriental Research
ASOR, short for American Schools of Oriental Research is an international organization whose mission is to initiate, encourage, and support research in the public understanding of the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean.
The identity represents the organization's extensive reach all over the world and their work in the archaeological research and fieldwork. It is based on a storage jar, an artifact commonly found at excavation sites.
We had two goals with this website: one, to make the website match the new brand identity and two, make the website simple enough that the audience, who would be viewing the website from a variety of locations, some often with low connectivity, could easily spend time on it without it being a pain. Another constraint was that the audience was varied age groups, right from millennials to a much older generation of people in their 50’s and 60’s.
