NBA - Rapid Replay
NBA looked to resource a team that focused solely on building products that catered to a growing audience seeking video content.
This became the case when last year's insights showed that close to forty-five percent of their media consumption came from people watching videos on mobile devices. With mobile apps like ESPN and and Bleacher Report dominating this market using the NBA’s own content - it became clear that the league needed their own branded and proprietary solution.
What wasn't clear is how to make that happen; how do they craft a mobile experience that leverages their access to rich library of up-to-the-minute video footage - and deliver it in a new and impactful way?
NBA Rapid Replay was created out the idea of giving our audience a solution for their live and post-game viewing needs. Our strategy was to create a supplementary in-app experience that worked in conjunction with their existing digital products, but offered up something others could not: immediate clips and highlights of a game, along with curated content straight from NBA editors.
In an effort to develop a user-centered design approach, our first step in our journey was to create personas based on interviews and research.
