Lynching in America

Equal Justice Initiative, led by Bryan Stevenson, believes that in order to heal the wounds from our present, we must face our past. They spent years documenting every lynching in the American South from 1877 to 1950. Our team supported this project by launching an interactive experience, Lynching in America. This site not only brings the data online and makes it interactive, but shows how the effects of this shameful era in our history are still felt today. My role on the project was to help start a conversation on social channels and connect to culture. We did so by creating trailers and promo videos that highlighted the faces behind the data. We also partnered with Andra Day to cover the iconic protest song "Strange Fruit", made famous by Billie Holiday. Our work was also exhibited in the Brooklyn Museum from July 26 to October 3.
