Tell it Slant

University of Connecticut Master of Fine Arts exhibition identity and catalog.

The 2011 MFA students chose a poem by Emily Dickinson for their thesis exhibition concept:

Tell all the truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind —

The catalog for this exhibit was designed to conceptually reflect the a viewer discovering meaning in the artists' pieces. This piece utilizes offset printing with a matte coating and spot varnish. The viewer is required to physically slant the piece in order to see the spot varnish details.

Primary roles in this collaborative project include layout design and print production.
